Job Title:     Design Engineer

 

Department: Engineering

 

Reports to: Engineering Manager

 

Classification: Non Exempt/Hourly

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drive accuracy and consistency across the engineering department
  • Assist in transition or organization from 2D to 3D design
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Technibus team
  • Review project files for design accuracy and efficiency
  • Compare specifications to meet customer and quality requirements
  • Coordinate schedules and interface with internal and external customers
  • Requisition buyout materials per job
  • Generate and transmit customer drawings
  • Generate shop fabrication drawings and full bills of materials (BOM)
    Support production and assembly as required
  • Use of the Auto CAD and Inventor 3D Software
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 procedures
  • Perform field measurements based on equipment placement

 

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in design software, Auto CAD, Inventor programs, or comparable 3D design software
  • Working knowledge of ANSI/IEEE/NEMA/UL/IEC/NEC standards
  • Basic computer operations and working knowledge in supplementary programs such as Microsoft windows and Microsoft Office
  • Structural and civil engineering knowledge
  • Experience in mechanical design such as assembly design, generation of plat drawings, and copper bus bar design
  • Successful Project management; coordination with customer issues, shop schedules, and production issues
  • Basic electrical design such as voltages and amperes as well as the effects on metal enclosures preferred
  • Blueprint reading; customer and civil drawings, transformers, switchgear, generator, PCC building arrangements and MCC
  • Positive interaction between customers and Technibus

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering Preferred
  • Five + Years’ experience in engineering Preferred
  • CAD Software experience such as Inventor, Solid works, & Auto CAD
  • PLC and Database Experience (not required)

 

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Technibus offers standing desk options to combat prolonged sitting
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds
  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine need.
  • Willing to travel
