Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager

Reports To:  General Manager/ VP Operations

 

Classification: Exempt

 

JOB SUMMARY:  The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for developing and owning an encompassing quality system that governs all functional departmental processes and procedures within Freeman Enclosure Systems.  The Quality Assurance Manager will monitor these practices and procedures through auditing, inspection, and other best business practices to ultimately ensure all company products, processes, and services meet or exceed all FES, ISO, and Customer specifications and expectations.      

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Plan, organize, and direct day-to-day quality control staff to meet or exceed all internal and external customer expectations.
  2. Be responsible for employee safety, product quality, production output, and on-time delivery.
  3. Recruit, develop, and manage departmental resources effectively. Fully utilize resources to produce optimal results.
  4. Address staff disciplinary issues, work with HR to process issues following employee handbook policies.
  5. Continuously evaluate staff, support performance evaluations, identify training needs, and recommend effective action plans for meeting performance expectations.
  6. Implement strategies within the quality department that align with strategic business initiatives, while providing a clear sense of direction and focus to all quality personnel and peers.
  7. Maintain, develop, and monitor through auditing and strong processes, an effective quality system to govern all departmental functions and operations.
  8. Prepare, host, and respond to all semi-annual or annual ISO audits.
  9. Manage the internal and external corrective action program to monitor and improve all departmental processes. Ensure effective short-term and long-term permanent corrective action is defined and implemented.
  10. Understand customer expectations and needs of their product and processes. Develop a trusting and working relationship with all customers.
  11. Develop and manage a layered process auditing system and schedule. Assign corrective action plans where applicable to develop struggling processes. 
  12. Work closely with the FES Field Service program management and customers to address warranty related issues in a timely fashion.
  13. Maintain and develop FES calibration system and schedule.
  14. Other duties may be assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Proven managerial experience as a Quality Manager in a high functioning manufacturing environment. A minimum of five years’ experience preferred.
  2. Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (strategic planning systems, processes resource allocation and human resources).
  3. Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise, fabrication and electrical experience a plus.
  4. Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, and stewardship processes.
  5. Computer literacy.
  6. Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
  7. Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.
  8. Four year Business Management degree, Engineering degree, or related field preferred.
